I grew up in Western Michigan and attended the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. After medical school at Michigan, I was a surgical resident at the University of Cincinnati, where, as an intern, I met my future wife. I completed a surgical oncology fellowship in Santa Monica and joined Kaiser Permanente in 1994. I practiced there for 8 years before returning to my wife's and father's hometown, Cincinnati.
I have four children who have all been accomplished athletes, and I greatly enjoy watching them compete. My wife and I enjoy maintaining our home and hosting fundraisers for various charities. I like to play golf, always trying to get better. We are Alabama and Ohio State sports fans.
We currently have 3 cats and an ark of wild animals eating our plants and flowers.
