COT & COC Physician-in-training paper competition

Final Information - THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7

We are excited to hold our annual COT/COC Physician-in-Training Paper Competition! Due to an unprecedented number of submissions this year, we will be organizing quick shot presentations. Each presenter will have 6 minutes to present their work, followed by one question max. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we strive to accommodate all participants.

NOTE:  VCU Medical Center has weapons detection screening in place.  Please do not bring any type of knife or any other weapon to campus.  See the link below for more information.

This building is badge access only; please do not attempt to enter the McGlothlin building from the outside.


On foot/for anyone who may take the GRTC Pulse:

Enter through the Gateway Building located at 1200 East Marshall Street

Do not attempt to enter McGlothlin from the outside.


Directions to McGlothlin from the Gateway Building Ground Floor Entrance:

· After you go through the weapons detection station, take the stairs or elevators on the right up to the first floor and turn right as you enter Main Hospital.

· Walk past the entrance to Subway and Chick-Fil-A on your left and flower kiosk on your right and enter the McGlothlin Medical Education Center.

· Walk until you see the hallway for the elevators on your left – You will see the first level below you.

· Take the elevators on the left to floor 5.

· Room 5-200A is across from the elevators.

Directions to McGlothlin from the Patient and Visitor Parking Deck:

· Take the elevator to level 8.

· When you exit the elevators, make sort of a U-turn to your left to enter the Critical Care Hospital building (do not go outside).

· Go through the weapons detection station.

· Take the escalator or elevator up to the first floor.

· Walk all the way up the hall past the Three Bears Gift Shop on the left toward Panera.

· Turn right at Panera.

· Pass the elevators on your left and take the next left at the Patient Information desk (do not enter the Gateway Building).

· Walk to the left of the weapons detection station at the entrance to McGlothlin across from the entrance to Subway and Chick-Fil-A on your left and flower kiosk on your right.

· Walk until you see the hallway for the elevators on your left – You will see the first level below you.

· Take the elevators on the left to floor 5.

· Room 5-200A is across from the elevators.


2025 VA-ACS ANNUAL MEETING
Two of the resident/fellow presentations in the COC and in the COT competition will be selected as winners to present at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Virginia Chapter, ACS. The top medical student presenter will also be selected to present at the 2025 Annual Meeting. A generous monetary prize will be presented at the 2025 Annual Meeting to each winner.
