Many of our Virginia Chapter, ACS members have expressed an interest in assisting with the COVID-19 response within their region and the Commonwealth. The state is urging medical professionals who want to help with COVID-19 response to register for the Virginia Medical Reserve Corp, (MRC), which is a force of dedicated volunteers who stand ready to support the community in the event of a public health emergency.

Dr. Lilian Peake, MPH, the Virginia Department of Health State Epidemiologist,will discuss the epidemiological data that informs public health decision-making for the Commonwealth of Virginia during COVID-19. CHICAGO (April 17, 2020): Today, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) released a new surgical resource document, “Local Resumption of Elective Surgery Guidance,” as a guide for health care facilities preparing to resume elective surgery once the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has peaked in their area.
